Words of Wisdom
For third quarter we had to do a "Elder Words of Wisdom" film project from Hiki No. For this project we had to interview a elder that was a relative or friend. My team members were Ian Kimura and Nika Alumpe. We interviewed Ian's dad, Kenneth Kimura. Before starting the interview we had to setr up the camera and check the mics to see if they were on and working. While filming the interview we asked questions about his struggles in college and about his job. Mr. Kimura's words of wisdom were "to never give up, no matter what happens or how hard it is." This is important because not giving up hleps people learn from their mistakes and do better the next time.

Practice Profile Story
When we started our "Elder Words of Wisdom" project, we had to find someone who went through something that thought them something that helped them in life. The purpose of this project was to prepare for the final project we are going to submit to Hiki No. Before starting the final project, we had to do a practice story. In this practice story I was working with Nika Alumpe, Ian Kimura, and Mia Lopez. For this interview, the subject title was "Kirklyn Draws Anime" and I was the subject. For this project we shot and used three shot sequences for B-Roll and used interesting angles for the interview shot.
I was chosen for this interview because it was the best subject to film at school. There was also something we could have done with Nika but since her's was playing piano we would have to go in to Mrs. Lardizabal's class room when she has no classes or at recess or lunch.
Five Tips For...
When the year started, our first G.T. project was to make a "Five Tips For..." video. My team members were Ian Kimura and Sophia Rodriguez, and our project was "Five Tips For Staying Healthy." We chose this topic because it seemed more interesting then the other ideas we had. I think we could have improved this video because some of the footage was rushed. Also because it was raining before we started filming and a it drizzled a little in between filming. We could improve the camera work because there were little shakes / camera movement in some parts of the video.

Profile Project Progress
Our project for this quarter is another Hiki No Project called "Elder Words of Wisdom." For this project I'm working with Ian Kimura and Jonnika Alumpe. For this project we had to interview an elder from one of our families. We interviewed Ian's dad at his grandparents house and we filmed the B-Roll at Kauai Lagoons. Ian's dad told us about how he struggled in college and learned from his mistakes to rise up and try again. In the interview I was the camera person. I had to make sure the shot was focused and in the rule of thirds.
During the interview process of interviewing Mr. Kimura we encountered some difficulties. First, we had some trouble checking the mic. It also took us some time to focus the camera so the shot was clear and focused on the interviewee.
For my team to work better we could communicate better so then we could all meet up. I think this because when we were doing B-Roll Nika and I couldn't be there because we could not contact her and I was sick. Also because we didn't know when our other team members had free time to come and film.
I think there are some things that my team could do to improve this interview. First we could have gotten more B-Roll. I think this because we needed to cover some of the cuts that we made while editing. We could have also rewatched and refilmed the interview so then we never need to cut out so many things. Finally, I think we could have had the interviewee talk mostly about one subject. I think this because Mr. Kimura was at first talking about his experiences in college and then he started talking about other things like how he was a janitor and how he fixes cars.

All About Me!
Hello World, my name is Kirklyn Nishida. I am 14 years old and I'm originally from Maui, Hawaii. I love drawing anime and fishing with my dad. My favorite foods are mochi, crab, okra, baked potatoes, and chicken soup. I love going to places, I've gone to Las Vegas, California, and most of the islands of Hawaii. In the future I hope to go to places like Japan, China, and New York. I am currently attending Kapa'a Middle School. Everyone in my class created s blog to display their work from G.T.
In my free time I like to draw and watch anime. I also like playing video games and playing with my dog. I don't like a lot of english music artist but I like Maroon 5, R 5, Imagine Dragon, and Lorde. I mostly like anime music from Vocaloid, IA and Jin. A few songs I like from them are The Lost Memory, Headphone Actor, Chain Girl, Six Trillion Years an Overnight Story, Aimless Imitation Chair Stealing Game, and Artificial Enemy. I like this music because they are from some of my favorite anime series. The anime I like watching is Attack on Titan, Mekakucity Actors, Sunday Without God, Blue Exorcist, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Upotte.
When I have a career I want to be a Pharmacist or Marine Biologist. I want to be a pharmacist because my aunty is a pharmacist and her job seems cool. I want to be a marine biologist because i love studying marine life and things about the ocean. In the future I hope to take all honors in high school and get straight A's. I also hope to improve on my drawing skills and digital artwork.

Composition Techniques
Composition Techniques are angles that bring interest in a film or in picture. The main four are rule of thirds, framing, unusual angles, and leading lines. Rule of thirds is when the subject of a film or picture is in the top left/right of the picture. Framing is when you take things from your background to create a frame around the subject. Unusual angles is when you take a photo or film and use an angle that is . Leading lines is when you take a photo or film and place the subject where there are lines going to the subject. These composition techniques are important because they bring interest to a photo of film, they also make the final project look unique.
Three Shot Sequencing
Sequencing is very important in photography. Three shot sequencing is when you take a wide, close-up, and extreme close-up and put it in a film or line of photos. The shots go from wide to close-up to extreme close-up. In film making, three shot sequencing is used to draw the viewer's attention and bring interest to the film.

Practice Story Reflection
Last class me, Ian, Nika, and Mia worked on our Practice Story Interview, we did this to prepare us for the Hiki no Film Project. Our interview was about drawing anime and it was called "Kirklyn Draws Anime." Before we started filming we had to get into teams and finish our transcript. Then we went out and filmed our interview, I was asked questions like "Who's your favorite character?" and "From a scale from one to ten how good at drawing do you think you are?" Then we filmed B-roll, my team filmed me drawing my anime character. Then we started editing the film in Final Cut Pro. Finally we recorded the narration and put it in the film.
I think we could have improved by making more B-roll and by having the interviewee restate the questions. We also could have improved the audio by having the interviewee talk louder and clearer. Finally we could have had planned better questions for the interview.
Overall I think we did okay. We could improve somethings and we did some things pretty well. If had the time to film again I think we could improve the interview a little.

Polar Panoramas
These are the polar panoramas that I did for my G.T. project. First we took 15- 20 360 degree pictures with a overlap of 10% to 15%. Then we imported the pictures and edited them in adobe bridge. Then we combined the pictures to make a panorama, and turned it into a square, flipped and distorted the panorama into a polar panorama. Finally we smeared and stamped the lines from the pictures.

Sphereical Panoramas
This is a my 2nd quarter project in my G.T. class. We took 10- 15, 360 degree photos that slightly overlapped, and edited them in bridge. Then we merged the photos into a rectangle and turned it into a square by making the size 5000 to 5000. After, we rotated it 180 degrees so it's upside down, and then distorted the panorama and stamped and smeared it. Finally, we took the spherical panoramas and used the elliptical marquee tool and feathered the edges. A black or white background was then applied to the final project.
Final Photomantages
These are Photomontages that I made that were inspired from the creations called "joiners" made by David Hockney. First we took cameras to take pictures of one thing at many different angles. Then we batch edited the images in Adobe bridge. We then batch renames and put the pictures in photoshop. Finally we put the photos together to make sense but not exactly how its suppose to look to make it unique.

Magazine Cover
This is a student project that we created in fall of 2013. We helped each other with the pictures and edited it in photoshop and bridge. We created a contour of the portrait and colored it in photoshop. Then we added text with text backgrounds. Finally we added extra things like a barcode and apps.
